Position Overview
As a Building Science Technician, you
will work with a team of specialists that provide building science services to
our customers and partners.
Responsibilities
- Perform
building plan reviews and conduct energy performance analysis. -
Conduct
building science diagnostics: visit structures, conduct measurement tests,
record results, summarize data, recommend solutions, define and interpret the
importance of the implementation of corrective measures. -
Perform QC
inspections in accordance with home performance programs and standards. - Provide advice, problem solving and instruction regarding
corrective measures for meeting program requirements; recommend specific system
modifications or adjustments. - Provide
hands-on assistance in deploying new technologies in the field. - Help
establish equipment selection, measurement tools and techniques for
energy-efficient homes. - Assist with preparation of workshops and presentations.

Comply with
all standards, policies and procedures, including safety and clean work space
procedures. -
Participate
on project teams, providing technical services as per the project plan and
scope of work. -
Provide
excellent customer service to clients by being timely and responsive, and utilizing
excellent verbal and written communications.
Qualifications
- To qualify, the successful
candidate should have a combination of education and experience related to
building science and/or energy efficiency. - Candidates with HERS Rater certification will be given preference.
- Associate's degree in green technologies, building science,
sustainability or related fields preferred; relevant certificate programs will
also be considered. - Affordable housing interest and
experience is a plus. Knowledge of or familiarity with doing energy audits,
energy inspections, or energy analysis preferred, with experience using relevant
diagnostic tools and methods (blower door, duct blaster, air flow testers,
air balancing equipment, etc.) Candidates
must also be organized, detail-oriented and customer-focused. - Strong verbal and written communication
skills are required, as well as proficiency with MS Office Suite software
programs.
