Position Overview:
The award winning architecture firm of Lord, Aeck & Sargent is looking for a Building Performance Analyst to join our growing Sustainability Team. In keeping with our 2030 Challenge commitment, we are seeking to expand our in-house energy simulation capabilities. This successful candidate will work with green building projects across our 5 studios (Education, Science, Arts & Culture, Historic Preservation, and Housing & Mixed Use) and 3 offices (Atlanta, Ann Arbor, and Chapel Hill).
The ideal candidate will be self motivated and eager to learn in our highly collaborative studio environment. They will report directly to the firm's Director of Sustainability and work closely with other sustainable design experts and project teams across the firm. A successful candidate will need to be a good communicator, with good presentation skills.
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate's chief responsibility is to perform simulations and provide analysis to design teams to help them achieve project performance goals.
- Additional responsibilities include the completion of LEED documentation, supporting firm green building research initiatives, and preparing reports of findings.
- The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with architects and MEP consultants to assist design teams in creating high performance buildings.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a Master's in Building Science, or Architectural Engineering
- Experience with eQUEST required. Proficiency in Trace, HAP, Energy Pro, Ecotect or IES is a plus.
- A strong knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, 2004 and 2007, and LEED EAc1 documentation experience required.
- Minimum 3 years experience with energy modeling and building analysis desired
- Familiarity with CAD programs like Autodesk Revit and Google Sketchup is a plus
- An ability to read and understand project specifications and drawings is strongly desired
- Great collaborator and communicator - excellent verbal and written skills are important
