The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 18,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an enthusiastic professional to support the Community department.
Position Overview:
The Membership Retention Associate will be responsible for organizing member events, scheduling member webcasts, updating membership sections of the website and coordinating member communications including the monthly member e-newsletter. Other tasks will include making and tracking calls to new member organizations, coordinating member mailings and other engagement tactics. This position requires good communication and writing skills, attention to detail and a high degree of enthusiasm and initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Organize ‘Member Circle' events at various conferences throughout the country. Send e-mail invitations, staff the event and complete post-event follow-up. Work with the events department to secure venue and coordinate logistical details.
- Schedule webcasts to keep members up to date with USGBC and GBCI updates as well as other relevant topics. Coordinate details with staff members and/or outside parties, advertise to members, broadcast the program and complete post-event follow-up.
- Update content and participate in the quarterly new member webcast which highlights the benefits of membership to members.
- Update membership sections of the website to reflect upcoming member events, announcements and promotions as well as new content and features. Monitor USGBC social media platform once launched.
- Coordinate content for the monthly member e-newsletter which features upcoming events, upcoming webcasts, surveys, discounts, membership best practices and other content. Work with the marketing department to finalize details.
- Manage ‘Member Promotions' program. Respond to inquiries and update the website as needed.
- Make member welcome calls to new members within their first month of membership. Thank members for their involvement, track topics of interest and instruct new members how to make the most of their membership.
- Coordinate member e-mail and print communication.
Qualifications:

Associates degree required, Bachelors preferred
- Minimum 1 year relevant professional experience required. Previous retention experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
- Professional, responsible and courteous manner
- Personable, excellent team player and capable of working independently
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to multitask and capable of handling a high volume of work quickly and accurately
- Strong computer abilities, including competency with MS Office Suite (including Excel and Outlook) required
- HTML knowledge a plus
- Supportive of and able to carry out the USGBC mission and standards for quality service
- Ability to travel up to 30% of time.
