About the Position
Ceres is looking to hire a Program Associate in our Investor Program to play a key role in Ceres’ work with investors on climate change. This position will focus on coordinating investors who are seeking to improve corporate practices on climate change.
The investors are part of Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), a network of more than 70 investors managing over $7 trillion of assets. Members include asset managers, state treasurers, pension funds, foundations, and religious institutional investors, among others. INCR is a project of Ceres. For more information, please visit www.incr.com. This is a full-time staff position that will report to the Manager, Investor Program.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist the Manager, Investor Program with coordination of investors, including overseeing all logistics for multiple in-person and phone group meetings throughout the year, meeting follow-up and coordinating investors to submit memos for resolutions in timely manner
• Providing support through research, writing and organizing, to investors who are asking corporations to disclose the business impacts of climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, seize clean energy opportunities, support policy solutions, and make other significant new public commitments
• Assist the Senior Manager, Investor Program with researching and writing memos making the business case for investor and corporate leadership on climate change, among other topics
• Support Manager, Investor Program on campaign activities such as drafting letters to investors, researching focus companies, writing resolutions, and educating investors on key issues
• Working with the Ceres communications team on drafting content for the INCR website, newsletter, press releases, reports and other publications
• Administrative work involves collecting success stories, taking notes from meetings, assisting with fundraising, and tracking results.
Qualifications
• Minimum of one year of relevant work experience and bachelor degree required.
• Knowledge or experience with energy, climate change or sustainability issues – understanding of the role of business, the investment community, or NGOs a plus.
• Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills, superior leadership ability, strong initiative and motivation.
• Successful record of organizing multiple projects and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent research capabilities
• Strong oral skills
• Highly developed writing skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail computer applications.
