Solazyme, Inc. is the leading renewable oils and bio-products company. We use algal biotechnology to renewably produce clean and scalable fuels, chemical, foods and health science products. Solazyme's advanced and proprietary technology uses algae to produce oils and biomaterials in standard fermentation facilities quickly, cleanly, cost effectively and at large scale.
Position Overview:
As part of the Fuels and Chemicals Business Development team, this role will work to support Solazyme's commercialization strategy.
Responsibilities:
- The Associate Director of the Program Management Office will have demonstrated experience implementing program management processes and best practices within a business unit.
- This individual will help develop, implement and maintain the Program Management process for Solazyme's Fuels and Chemicals business unit including implementing process metrics and dashboards for all programs and projects within the business unit.
- Leverage internal and external resources to develop and implement best practices in Program Management on an on-going basis.
- Integrate business stakeholders in the Program Management process in a manner that encourages and creates teamwork and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms that ensure progress and execution on all programs and projects is clearly visible to all stakeholders.
- Create escalation paths and issue resolution forums that bias successful project execution and attainment of business objectives.
- Develop control mechanisms that provide timely feedback on project execution to plan. Ensure corrective actions and escalations are implemented in real-time in order to drive successful project execution.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or higher degree in a technical field, preferably Chemistry, Biology, Chemical or Biochemical Engineering
- Program Management Certification preferred.
- 5- 10 years of demonstrated Program Management leadership required
- Must have an established record in project or program management.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize amongst multiple commitments, and to drive multiple high profile and complex projects simultaneously.
- Proven leadership skills and the capability to manage/lead highly matrixed, cross-functional project teams.
- Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Collaborative team player/builder comfortable leading as well as executing, and taking input from multiple sources.
- Approximately 30% travel required.
