Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA)'s Energy Stakeholder Strategy Advisory Service helps oil and gas companies better anticipate and respond to evolving pressures from a variety of stakeholders - customers, shareholders, environmental nongovernmental organizations, local communities, financial institutions, and national and local governments.
The Service helps clients incorporate these factors into business strategies to improve their competitive advantage. CERA's insight and recommendations are based on rigorous, ongoing analysis of stakeholder expectations and demands in this changing business and policy landscape.
Job Summary:
The Associate Director, OIL Stakeholder Strategy position will be located in either Cambridge MA or Washington, D.C. with regular travel to the other location. This position reports to the Senior Director, Energy Stakeholder Strategy, and focuses on research, analysis, and writing on international economic, energy, environmental, and social issues that affect energy markets.
The Associate Director will be part of a team that advises senior executives in the energy and financial communities as well as government officials on the implications of long-term trends in the areas of environmental strategy and corporate responsibility. The individual hired will also work across CERA with directors of oil, gas, and power in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia and the Caspian, and Asia to produce periodic reports on global energy issues.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Research, write, and deliver in-depth reports and articles on emerging international economic, energy, environmental and social trends for and other topics as appropriate
-Work with the Senior Director to research and create case studies: identify companies, contacts, and social and political issues. Interview company contacts and CERA colleagues to elicit information for building case studies
-Create and deliver presentations for internal and external audiences (clients and prospects)
-Present at Roundtables and other CERA events
-Support client consulting projects
-Assist in planning and coordinating meetings and events
Qualifications:
-BS/BA required. MBA, MPA, or MS strongly preferred
- Experience in the oil and gas industry, or consulting to the energy industry
-Experience in corporate social responsibility and sustainable development program development and communications
-Strong oral and written communication skills, including formal and informal presentations and interviewing
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills
-Excellent PC skills with advanced proficiency in MS Office and data base applications
- International business experience (CERA prefers candidates who have lived and worked in both the United States and in other countries)
-Proficiency in more than one language is preferred -Experience in client and business development
-Ability to learn quickly and develop as a thought leader
-Must be a self-starter who works with a high degree of independence
-The selected candidate will demonstrate long-term potential for consulting
