Description

Northland College, an environmentally-committed college on the shores of Lake Superior, is searching for an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Community Development. Northland College has 650 students and 45 faculty and is located in Ashland, Wisconsin.

Position Overview:

This full-time, tenure-track position begins in late August 2012, and will contribute to the College's new Connections Liberal Education Curriculum.

Although the specific area of expertise for this position is flexible, the successful candidate must have a commitment to sustainable community development and be prepared to teach courses such as Introduction to Sustainable Community Development, Sustainable Community Planning, Urban Planning, Introduction to Social Responsibility and Social Marketing.

The teaching load is 3-3-1 (i.e. 7 courses total in 2 fifteen-week semesters and 1 four-week semester).

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Community Development, Urban/regional Planning, International Development, Public Policy, Political Science, Landscape Architecture, or a related field is required. Additional requirements include teaching experience at the college level, an active research program that will engage students in community development issues, the ability to contribute to the sustainable community development major and to Northland's collaborative liberal arts curriculum.

Compensation: $41,000 - $43,000. A comprehensive benefit summary is provided with an on-campus interview.  Domestic partner benefits are available if the criteria of domestic partnership is met.
