The Marine Stewardship Council is a leading non-profit certification program that recognises and rewards sustainable fishing practices, working from source through to the end user and all stakeholders in between.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, the post is a key strategic and leadership position within the organisation. As part of the Senior Management Team, the post holder will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of the vision and mission of the MSC and to the collective management and strategic development of the organisation.
Responsibilities:
The post holder will be a major contributor to the continued development of the organisation and will lead and be responsible for dedicated teams engaging fisheries, supply chain partners and other stakeholders in key markets and throughout the region. Within the organisation the work will involve:
- Managing regional headquarters staff based in Hong Kong and country-based teams covering Australia, New Zealand and Japan;
- Managing fisheries engagement in the Pacific region, with an emphasis on tuna;
- Developing the MSC engagement in the region and leading on the implementation of the MSC's strategic plan (2012-2017) which is currently under development but which will prioritise development of the programme in the Asia Pacific region;
- Coordinate the engagement of diverse stakeholders interested in the MSC programme within the region, responding to the associated communication priorities and promoting the programme to this broad audience; and,
- In liaison with the Standards and Licensing Director, have oversight of the management of the chain of custody holders within the region.
Qualifications:
This post is critical to ensuring the credibility, rigour, quality and consistency of the MSC programme and this work requires exceptional leadership, diplomacy and communications skills to engage with a range of diverse stakeholder relationships that underpin the MSC's ability to deliver its mission within the Asia-Pacific region
