Description
~ The mission of the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish is to conserve, regulate, propagate and protect the wildlife and fish within the state of New Mexico using a flexible management system that ensures sustainable use for public food supply, recreation and safety; and to provide for off-highway motor vehicle recreation that recognizes cultural, historic, and resource values while ensuring public safety. ~
Position Overview
This position will provide technical guidance concerning the management, enhancement, research and conservation of aquatic/riparian resources throughout the state, including hydrology, wetlands, riparian and other wildlife habitat, wilderness, recreation, water quality, and environmental protection.
This position routinely communicates and consults with federal and state agencies, local governments, communities, private organizations, and other stakeholders regarding these aquatic resources.
Note: This position is a Pay Band 65.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, fisheries science/management, wildlife science/management, animal science, forestry, ecology; or
- Similar related natural resource degree and two (2) years directly related work experience.

Working Conditions
- Typically will work in an office/cubicle environment. However, work may occur in outdoor settings and require driving a vehicle, hiking, working in inclement weather, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Employee will be expected to work with desktop computers and associated equipment (e.g. printers, scanners), a telephone, and handheld GPS equipment.
