American Rivers is a national non-profit conservation organization that protects healthy natural rivers for the benefit of communities, fish and wildlife. Each year we offer an excellent fellowship opportunity for graduating or recently graduated masters and doctoral candidates in our Washington, DC headquarters. Since the founding of our organization we have grown and changed tremendously and the Anthony A. Lapham River Conservation Fellowship's has become an integral part of our organization since its inception in 2008.
American Rivers is based in Washington, DC, and have regional operations in the Pacific Northwest, California, the Great Lakes, the Greater Northwest and the Southeast. Our program staff are expert advocates, who develop practical policy solutions and work with civic and community leaders to implement those solutions at the local, state and federal level. American Rivers places a strong emphasis on maintaining a learning culture and positive work environment. The Anthony A. Lapham River Conservation Fellowship program offers fellows a relaxed, yet focused, work environment and a wonderful entry into the nonprofit and conservation fields.
Position Overview:
We seek applicants with a commitment to the environment that are energetic, creative, and enthusiastic about conservation and the environment. Candidates must also have a masters or terminal degree in stream ecology, hydrology, geomorphology, public health, public policy, law, economics, engineering, or related fields.
