Advanced Energy, a Raleigh-based nonprofit training, consulting and research firm, is beginning the hiring process for two 11-month AmeriCorps positions that will begin in early September, 2011. Extensive training will enable you to work with Habitat for Humanity affiliates and other nonprofits building affordable housing in NC. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and grow core building science skills.
Position Overview:
Selected individual(s) will help affordable housing groups build homes that are more energy efficient, healthy and sustainable.
Job Type: 11-Month Internship -- Begins September 2011
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: training developers, builders and trade contractors in high performance home construction practices, performing quality control checks on affordable homes to ensure compliance with the SystemVision heating and cooling guarantee program, conducting plan reviews and load calculations, assisting in program development, and working with program partners to help them develop creative and practical solutions for success. Preference will be given to individuals with moderate construction experience and knowledge. Must have excellent communication skills, problem solving ability and proficiency with MS Office software applications.

Compensation: Compensation includes a stipend, education grant, and housing and cell phone allowances.
