Administrative Internships at the Consumer Energy Council of America
Fall/Winter 2004
CECA is the senior public interest organization in the United States focusing on the energy industries that provide essential services to consumers. As a leading national and resource for policy analysis, CECA has three decades of experience building consensus among stakeholders and developing policy that serves the consumer's interest.
Located in downtown Washington, DC, CECA is within walking distance of three subway stops, two major university libraries, the White House and numerous cultural and political sites. CECA offers an internship stipend.
ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN DESCRIPTION
CECA is in search of an experienced Administrative Intern interested in non-profit management to assist in administrative duties of our small, highly energetic office. Duties include developing correspondence, maintaining files, answering phones, and assisting the Office Manager with other tasks. Intern will get an excellent taste of the many dimensions of running an important public policy organization.
In some cases, Interns qualify for college credit or work study programs in place of modest stipends. CECA makes every attempt to work with schools and advisors to ensure college credit where applicable.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE USEFUL FOR INTERNSHIPS
CECA Administrative Interns are available to undergraduate and graduate students. Interns should have excellent academic credentials, as well as good research and writing skills. Interns must be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) and experienced with Internet research. It is helpful to have an understanding of the needs of a fast-paced office environment. Interns should be willing and able to work independently, take initiative when opportunities arise, and be flexible enough to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously. A vibrant sense of humor is essential.
