Description
Background:
Investors can play a powerful role in efforts to convince the worlds largest corporations to behave in an environmentally responsible manner. And now, after a year in which the collapse of Enron and a series of corporate scandals rocked the nations investors, more investors are focusing on corporate environmental responsibility than ever before. The PIRGs believe that environmentally responsible investment companies can play a critical role in harnessing the power of investors to win significant public interest victories.
Thats why the PIRGs founded the Green Century Funds, a family of environmentally responsible mutual funds that offer investors an opportunity to invest wisely without sacrificing their values. Green Century Capital Management (GCCM), the administrator of the Funds, oversees the operation, marketing, and shareholder advocacy of the Funds. GCCM is owned by a partnership of state PIRGs, and so 100% of the profits that GCCM earns through its management of the Funds belongs to the PIRGs to support their work on critical public interest issues.
