Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist / Compliance Project Manager to be located in either Dublin CA, Tucson, AZ or Portland, OR supporting projects on the West Coast.

Utilizing your entire arsenal of skills and talents, you will manage projects, compare field site data to regulatory standards for compliance, read regulations, permit conditions, write compliance reports and tabulate data, and work on permit applications. Areas of compliance will include: landfill gas monitoring, leachate collection systems, data management, landfill gas-to-energy systems, air quality monitoring and permitting, NSPS/NESHAP compliance services and reporting. You will also provide assistance to other managers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze reports, drawings, environmental data, Title V air permits, permit applications
  • Monitor and analyze/oversight of environmental monitoring data (air, liquids, emissions); more focus on the analysis of data and reporting writing.
  • Coordinate with onsite personnel to ensure site equipment and monitoring is conducted in accordance with application regulations and permit requirements
  • Constant client interaction and some exposure to Air District permit engineers
  • Manage projects in your specific area of expertise
  • Track project budgets, scope and project invoicing
  • Prepare proposals and meet with clients and regulators; implement safe work practices
  • Analyze systems for stability and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare permit documents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an Environmental or Scientific discipline with 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in environmental science, compliance and permitting
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Solid waste industry experience or comparable a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability for some required travel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and unwavering personal integrity
  • Ability to develop leadership skills
  • Knowledge of solid waste / air permitting regulations
  • Willingness and capability to mentor and lead junior staff
  • Self-disciplined/motivated individual who also works well in a team environment

Compensation

This is an excellent opportunity to your utilize existing technical proficiencies while also expanding your skill set, mentoring junior staff and managing technical tasks and smaller projects. Depending on experience, you will manage multi-disciplinary projects with budgets ranging from $5,000 up to $150,000 which may include anything from permitting (gas collection piping systems, landfill gas flare systems) to preparation of compliance documents (quarterly reports, semi-annual reports, annual reports).
