In working to achieve this mission, TWC has established the largest nonprofit nature preserve system in California, comprised of nineteen preserves encompassing 156,000 acres of diverse mountain, valley, desert, river, and oceanfront landscapes. These preserves are open to the public free of charge for passive recreation, including camping, hiking, picnicking, birding, and more.

Ultimately, saving our treasured landscapes from development means educating and instilling a love for nature in future generations. For this reason, TWC is also the state’s nonprofit leader in providing free outdoor education opportunities for California youth. Through these programs and our reverent stewardship of preserves—visited by more than a million people per year—we foster a love and respect for life in all of its magnificent forms.

Position Overview

Wildlands Conservancy is accepting applications for a Seasonal Part-Time Stewardship Crew Member to be a responsible for assisting with managing the natural resources, access and infrastructure on Wildlands Conservancy’s nature preserves as well as engage in conservation efforts across the Conservancy’s Easement system.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Work on trails on the Conservancy Preserves;
• Identify and manage invasive species;
• Conduct biological inventories;
• Perform small construction projects; and
• Assist with habitat restoration projects.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must:

• Have completed 2 years of college level work relating to environmental science;
• Have the ability to interpret maps;
• Conduct physical labor in all types of weather;
• Use power tools safely;
• Work independently;
• Lift 50 lbs.; and
• Hike 5 miles.

Compensation

• Salary $10/Hour
