Westmoreland Sanctuary was established in 1957 as a not-for-profit nature center and wildlife preserve with the mission to “acquire, establish and maintain for the free use, enjoyment and appreciation of the public. . . tracts of land, including woodland and streams, as a nature sanctuary . . . to promote nature appreciation, preservation and conservation generally, for the present and future benefit and enjoyment of the public.” Westmoreland also offers a variety of environmental education, conservation and recreational programs and events serving nearly 15,000 visitors every year. Through these facilities and programs Westmoreland encourages a deeper understanding and engagement with nature and our environment.
Position Overview
Westmoreland Sanctuary seeks a passionate, enthusiastic, mission oriented, and highly organized professional individual to facilitate the marketing and development duties of a small non-profit environmental organization. Ideal candidate will have strong skills, a positive attitude, and possess the ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-pace organization as part of a collaborative and committed team
This is a part-time position, 3 days per week (Tues-Thursday) including occasional after hour events; position reports to the Manager and Director and work closely with other staff.
Responsibilities
- General administrative responsibilities (answering phone calls, scheduling internal and external meetings for staff, filing paperwork, data management, etc.)
- Update social media platforms with current news and events (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Website); develop creative and impactful content and reporting that connects our constituency with our work and their impact
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Quick Books
- Manage Donor database; track donor data to help develop fundraising strategy. Cultivate stewardship events for donors throughout the year
- Low-tech technical writing (grants, cover letter, letter of intent, policy and procedures, appeals, newsletters, blog, etc.)
- Grant administration; maintain online grant portals, submit reports, etc.
- Research and analyze grant opportunities that support WS mission and focus areas
