Field Technician

Position Overview

The Field/Research Specialist will work directly under the Ag Specialist. The Field/Research Specialist will monitor the results of Urth product application protocols. Duties will include data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results in both written and oral formats. A collaborative attitude toward working with other departments and clients is integral to success.

The candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate about both organic and conventional farming methods with a deep understanding of soil/water relationships and plant nutrition. The Field/Research Specialist will gain knowledge by working with the Ag Specialist. The assigned region will be dependent upon candidate’s location. Time spent in the Salinas, CA HQ office also dependent upon location. The position is part-time and offers an hourly salary and override. Health benefits are not included at this time.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring of customized spec for each grower.
• Collection of data including pest control, soil and water quality, yield and crop quality.
• Analysis and summarization of data.
• Presentation of results to Urth management team.
• Maintain relationships with growers and promote Urth Agriculture’s mission and values.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Recently graduated or soon to graduate with a degree in Ag Sciences, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, and/or Agronomy.
• Equivalent experience equal to one year in agriculture or agricultural services industry.

• Ability to learn data systems and work remotely using mobile devices.
• Detail oriented, accurate, reliable, able to multitask, and a team player.
• Excellent oral, written, and visual communications skills.
• Confidence, composure, ability to work independently.
• Excellent listening skills and a passion for learning.
• Action-oriented self-starter.
• Can lift 50 lbs., or more on an intermittent basis.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (at minimum ability to communicate regarding data collection).
• Reliable transportation, car insurance and ability to drive long distances.
• Business Travel will be approximately 50%.

Compensation

• Salary: $45,000.00 to $50,000.00 /year
