Conservation Canvass Organizer

Position Overview

We are currently looking to hire Conservation Canvass Organizers.

We are looking for outgoing, passionate individuals to reach out to the public and find new supporters. Conservation Canvass Organizers will work with the Field and Volunteer Director and the Canvass Director to interface with Alaskans on key conservation issues and maintain relationships with passionate action takers to sustain support. Conversations take place in person, at doors, over the phone, and at events.

This position may occasionally require travel outside of Anchorage. Our goal is to identify and activate supporters on various conservation campaigns that protect the resources that sustain our cultures and way of life. Individuals that have a close tie to Alaska’s culture, way of life and/or fishing are encouraged to apply. This is an entry level position that provides career building opportunities in a larger conservation movement.

Responsibilities

• Make phone calls to identify and engage supporters to take action on key issues affecting Alaska’s salmon resources
• Direct contact with the voting public
• Engaging with the public at events
• Encouraging active public involvement in conservation advocacy campaigns
• Recording accurate data, and working with your supervisor to ensure a quality canvass program

Qualifications

The ideal Candidate would:

• Have experience canvassing and/ or organizing
• Have excellent interpersonal skills
• Be independent, accountable and honest
• Have experience working with technology and data entry
• Have a flexible schedule
