Description

~ RECON Environmental was established in 1972 with the enactment of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and in 1977 became a California corporation.  Our company represents one of the longest-established environmental consulting firms in the Southwest. We have provided nearly five decades of continuous service to our valued clients in the public and private sectors. ~

Since our founding in San Diego, California, we have grown to a company of more than 120 employees providing comprehensive environmental planning services throughout the Southwest. Over the past 47 years, we have been involved in several landmark projects, including the San Diego Clean Water Program in the early 1990s, the largest infrastructure improvement project in the city at the time. Through effective consensus building with multiple resource agencies, jurisdictions, landowners, and stakeholders, we were instrumental in the development of several large-scale habitat conservation plans in California, Arizona, and Nevada resulting in the preservation of millions of acres of sensitive habitats for protected and listed species.  More recently, we played a key role in the environmental compliance process for the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan, which encompasses 22 million acres within seven counties in southern California.

With the goal of expanding our operations geographically, RECON opened an office in Tucson in 1989 to serve public and private sector clients in southern Arizona, and more recently, we expanded our services northward to the Bay Area of California.  In 1997, RECON established a native plant nursery in San Diego, RECON Native Plants, to complement our comprehensive habitat restoration services.  In 2010 we became a 100% employee-owned corporation.
