Goat Milker and Farm Assistant

Benaroya Family Farm is a diverse 10 acre homestead in Los Gatos with 300 fruit trees, lots of berries and vegetables, greenhouses, pastures, chickens and 13 dairy goats.

Position Overview

• We are looking a Goat Milker and Farm Assistant to assist with animal care/milking at a 13-acre homestead in Los Gatos, CA. Weekend hours are required.
• Training is available for this role 
• Los Gatos, CA | Part-time | Reports to the Farm Manager
• Hours are TBD; most hours are on Saturday and Sunday

Responsibilities

• Milk goats by hand and w/machine on Saturdays and/or Sundays as needed
• Filter, bottle, and chill milk
• Sterilize milking equipment
• Replenish bedding as needed
• Ensure water is clean and all waterers are functioning correctly
• Collect chicken/duck eggs
• Refill animal feed
• Basic animal care
• Help with a variety of farm-related tasks
• Help with vegetable harvest and hand watering
• Send daily update on herd status

Qualifications

Who you are and you have:

• Experience milking and caring for dairy goats and chickens
• General animal husbandry skills
• A keen sense of observation and attention to detail
• Organic farming/gardening experience
• Ability to lift and carry 50lbs (aka a sack of chicken food)
• Good problem solving and judgement skills and know when to get others involved
• Like to work alone

Compensation

• $15-20/hr DOE
