Position Overview

The AutoCAD Designer is a member of the Design & Engineering department who prepares quality shop drawings for one of our three divisions, Ground Mount, Canopy, or Tracker. This position is also responsible for reviewing and detailing multiple projects for customers on a continuous basis to meet drawing submittal and release deadlines.

Responsibilities

In a typical day you might:

• Design solar array structures including preliminary/conceptual layouts, permit drawings, construction drawings, fabrication drawings and material lists
• Work directly with internal Sales, Estimating, and Engineering & Project Management teams
• You will also utilize AutoCAD, Excel & Outlook as the primary tools to coordinate & update project specific information for both internal & external parties

What a Typical Week Looks Like:

• Create submittal drawings for use in permitting
• Generating fabrication drawings of all parts for the project
• Create detailed drawings required for installation crews
• Generate associated bills of material for manufacturing
• Ability to work closely as a team including, design manager, fellow designers, and engineers
• Detailer of one or more RBI Solar product lines for preparation of shop drawings for our Operations
• Monitor and minimize indirect hours and stays focused on billable direct time projects
• Prepares internally reviewed letters to customers and designers for such things as information requests, technical guidance, transmittal comments/questions, etc.
• Provides ideas and helps management to implement continuous improvement initiatives identified in yearly and long-term goals

Qualifications

In order to be successful, you will need:

• Associate Degree in a technical discipline. Bachelors is a plus
• Structural or architectural drafting experience preferred
• Experience in Engineering/Design field
• 1+ years of Auto CAD experience
• Construction review experience is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite
