Position Overview

CDP is seeking a highly motivated research analyst to join its multi-award winning investor research team. The successful candidate will ideally have 2-3 years’ experience in an analytical role and a business or financial background / qualification with a passion for climate issues.

This is a full time role based at CDP’s Central London office reporting to CDP’s Head of Investor Research.

About CDP’s Investor Research team:

The investor research team produces sector specific, climate focused research for the investment community. Our analysis identifies transition risks and opportunities for companies in transitioning to a low carbon economy based on climate (carbon and water) metrics in a number of high-emitting sectors, which in aggregate could have a material impact on company earnings. The research aims to improve investor understanding and knowledge of CDP data and inform investor engagement with companies on climate-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Sector analysis: developing a good understanding of the key climate and water data points relevant to a sector’s decarbonization pathway.
  • Company analysis: undertaking research including data extraction from CDP databases, company reports, company reports and other public sources.
  • Report production: data analysis and articulation of conclusions relevant to investment decisions.
  • Contributing to the development of the research product and identifying new areas of analysis.

Qualifications

Required skills and experience:

  • Exceptional analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written skills with ability to communicate complex analysis and arguments in a concise, easy to follow manner.
  • Ability to draw key messages out of complex research and communicate research finds to both internal and external audiences including investors.
  • An understanding of capital markets and the investment management industry with a passion for sustainable investment.
  • Work with data sets in a clean, methodical manner, minimising risk of error.
  • Ability to assess credibility / usefulness of different data sources.
  • Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.

Additional characteristics, traits and skills:

  • Technologically competent: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ideally also Bloomberg (although training can be arranged).
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working, personable and ability to work to deadlines.

Compensation

£35-40,000 per annum, annual discretionary bonus, 24 days’ holiday (increasing to 30), generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance, opportunity to work flexibly and others.
