Position Overview

The Evans-White Laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a 12-month Postdoctoral Fellow in Freshwater Ecology, beginning in February 2019. 

The initial appointment is for one-year, renewable based upon the need for the position, availability of funding, and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will oversee daily operations in the laboratory including mentoring of several undergraduate and graduate students and will help coordinate a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates Program.
  • This position will also organize field and laboratory studies, analyze results, and prepare and review reports, manuscripts, and presentations for scientific conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biology, natural resources, environmental sciences, ecology, or a related field conferred by the start of employment
  • Demonstrated research productivity in freshwater ecology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ecological and biological stoichiometry theory
  • Demonstrated familiarity with aquatic invertebrate taxonomy and genetic techniques, such as DNA barcoding
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of ecological genetic approaches
  • Knowledge of computer coding in R

The Department of Biological Sciences emphasizes cell and molecular biology, ecology, and evolutionary biology.
