Description

~ PASE Corps - a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization - Solving environmental compliance and sustainability challenges through collaboration, research, technical assistance, and training, and by engaging the experts, mentors, senior professionals, retirees, and other scallywags. ~

PASE Corps recruits, trains, and manages interns on-the-job-training at employer sites. We tap the expertise of retired environmental, engineering, and conservation professionals, our EnviroEncore team, to lead a team of specialists to solve your environmental challenges and complete projects. We have decades of NEPA expertise that can save you time and money for your NEPA and environmental compliance needs.

PASE Corps Environmental Associates are not stuck in the Catch-22 trap of: The job requires experienced people, but I need that job to get experience.  They are passionate about sharpening their skills and abilities and building their resume for a career that makes a difference.

Position Overview

Environmental Associates become part of PASE Corps and build their resume by participating in weekly advanced environmental training sessions that are based on skills employers told us were the most important or often missing in resumes and experience that they wished more candidates would have -- based on nationwide environmental employer surveys.

Additional training sessions may be added based on employer/partner's needs. Some Associates may be selected to work on short-term projects for our Partners (municipalities, government agencies, consultants, and nonprofit environmental organizations). Others may be placed in internships on-site with our Partners. Ultimate goal is placing PASE Corps Environmental Associates in rewarding entry-level environmental sustainability careers.

Responsibilities

  • Researching technical and environmental policy issues one week and then teaching them next week.
  • Much of the Summer 2018 and Fall 2018 advanced training sessions will focus on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and associated laws and regulations such as Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.
  • You will also gain experience researching and preparing proposals for grants, cooperative agreements, and environmental contracts -- environmental employers seek technical staff that can also write proposals and win work!
  • You will need to adapt, research, and train on other skills that environmental employers introduce to us during the semester -- for example, Brownfields, climate change planning, ISO 14001 EMS, and other environmental compliance laws, regulations, and skills.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of college, bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • Preference for candidates who have college education in environmental-related degree programs.
  • Ability to research environmental topics one week and teach them at the following week's session. Don't worry--everyone has to do it.
  • Your're building experience, knowledge and your resume.
  • Availability to work on short-term environmental projects for our partners/employers.
