As the largest regional land trust in Indiana, Sycamore strategically protects and restores a growing acreage of land, including 9,470 acres of fee-title properties and conservation easements. Sycamore also operates an environmental education program that reaches more than 5,000 people each year. Position Overview

Sycamore Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) located in Bloomington, IN, is seeking exceptionally qualified, motivated candidates for its Executive Director position. A complete job description can be viewed here.

Responsibilities

  • As chief executive officer, the Executive Director provides the vision and oversight for key program areas including land protection, land stewardship, and environmental education while overseeing six other full-time professional staff.
  • This hard-working, experienced team looks forward to welcoming a leader who can inspire and engage people within the organization and across Sycamore’s diverse coverage area of 26 counties.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional skills in leadership, management, and communication.
  • Experience with major gift fundraising, working with boards, and financial management is critical.
  • A working understanding of land trusts and conservation is essential.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, advanced degree preferred, and five to ten years’ experience in conservation, nonprofit management, and/or related field.

Compensation

  • Salary is commensurate with experience.
