Air Permitting Specialist

Position Overview

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced staff-level Air Permitting/Environmental Regulatory Compliance Specialist in our Livonia, Michigan office. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated independent self-starter with a client oriented focus.

Responsibilities

• The position will include performing various complex technical analyses and calculations, and preparing various types of reports and documents including regulatory programs, audit reports, permit applications, and environmental management-system-related documentation
• Some travel and overnight stays may be required at times
• This position may also involve being outsourced to client facilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a science or engineering field (Master’s Degree a plus)
• 5+ years of relevant experience and knowledge of applicable air quality laws and regulations (Federal and State of Michigan)
• Ability to complete tasks independently and within a team
• Demonstrate professional judgment, consistency, and strong attention to detail
• Demonstrate performance of analysis, problem solving and strong organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
• Project experience in air emissions estimation, reporting, permitting, and control is required
• Project experience in the following areas is preferred:
  • Environmental Compliance Auditing
  • EPCRA (TRI and Tier II Reporting)
  • Environmental Management Systems, including ISO 14001
  • Hazardous waste management
  • SPCC/SWPPP/Environmental Contingency Plan development
  • Wastewater/stormwater permitting and monitoring
