Position Overview

Solar Service Technicianswanted For Immediate hire!

Responsibilities

  • The Solar Service Technician performs three to five services and troubleshooting jobs a day.
  • This includes troubleshooting system under performances, system failures, ground faults and other inverter related issues.
  • Additional work includes the installation of monitoring systems, system removals and reinstallations and the replacement of faulty material.
  • The service technician will be in charge of updating and closing out jobs in Salesforce and effectively communicating job details to Service Dispatch and the Service Manager.
  • The service tech is also responsible for checking their schedule for the next day and ensuring all needed material for the next days jobs is ready to go out.
  • To be considered the ideal candidate one must have significant, proven and specific experience as a solar installer looking to take on more responsibilities ensuring the company’s strategies are always the top priority.
  • The Service Technician interacts directly with customers and is responsible for ensuring our products are installed safely, properly, and on time without exception.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Ensure work performed by all technicians is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codes.
  • Attentive to emails and phone calls from management and his/her office teammates.
  • Interface with management to ensure compliance with performance ratios and completion of projects timely and profitably.
  • Closeout cases and look up information in Salesforce and Calendar.

Required Skills:

  • Can install an entire solar system from beginning to end on one’s own.
  • Experience troubleshooting with multiple inverters manufactures.
  • Experience installing multiple racking types.
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in operations policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work in excess of 40 hours per week and on Saturdays.
  • Must be highly motivated with good communication skills and capable of leadership by example.
  • Ability to demonstrate required computer skills (i.e. MS Excel/Word/Outlook, web, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret one line and CAD drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Able to perform advanced electrical calculations.
  • Knowledge of 2011 NEC and ability to navigate it.
  • Must be willing to work in high places.
  • Our installations are on rooftops, and subsequently, you will be on them.

Required Experience:

  • Experience with project management and construction experience required (3+ years preferred).
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of formal technical solar or electrical training.
  • Completion of NABCEP solar specific training is expected and can be provided at The US Solar Institute.
  • NABCEP or UL Certified PV Installer is the preference.
  • 3 years minimum experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, HVAC, solar thermal and/or solar PV systems.
  • Being able to select equipment and materials from blueprints, schematics, and sketches or an equivalent combination of relevant engineering education and/or experience.

Work Environment:

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow.
  • Job requires the employee to have required tools with them at all times.
  • Perform work at various heights up to 50’, working from ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolding, catwalks, aerial lifts or other safe working platforms.
  • Work in restricted areas like trenches or switchgear rooms and infrequently like manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attic spaces, etc.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat and safety glasses at all times. Each job site may be different and must be accessed individually.
  • Repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Able to work 10+ hours a day, 40+ hours a week, overtime and night shifts as required.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds Constantly moving on your feet, all day long.
  • Climb ladders of all types.
  • Complete overhead work for full day’s assignments.
  • Possess good vision (natural or corrected).
  • Responsible for securing tools and materials from vendors and storage areas to complete their assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to pass a background.
