Position Overview

Wilbur Wright College seeks Part-Time Faculty to teach Environmental Technology courses. We are seeking qualified instructors with a strong education in Environmental Technology who can teach in one of the following area(s):

  • Recycling and Waste Diversion
  • Entrepreneurship in Ecology
  • Solar Photo-Voltaic System Design and Installation
  • Energy Engineering and Renewable Energy

The ideal candidate will utilize highly effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and have a passion for teaching and learning along with a strong commitment to the missions and ideals of the community college.

Responsibilities

  • Designs course syllabi to meet learning outcomes, and promotes students’ active participation in their own learning.
  • Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Employs a variety of assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to attaining student learning outcomes.
  • Helps students reach their academic and career goals conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Contributes to the academic and professional communities and promotes collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and national or industry recognized certification in the field required.
  • Master's degree in Environmental Technology or related discipline or experience in Environmental Technology class subject area preferred.
  • Demonstrate teaching competence in environmental technology courses.
  • Community college teaching experience preferred.
  • For the Entrepreneurship in Ecology class, prior experience working with high school students preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students.
