Position Overview

At Goal Zero, an NRG owned company; our mission is to lead the portable renewable power industry through innovation and education.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, generate, and distribute technical product and process documentation deemed necessary on new products and for mid-life form/fit/function changes to a product.
  • Help create, adjust, and manage documentation of key product requirements, especially in regard to design for manufacturability.
  • Define quality control and inspection plans and ensure implementation on new products to maximize product quality and yield in production.
  • Support development of the manufacturers’ control plan by setting and communicating product acceptance criteria (MSP).
  • Review product and process information and communicate proposals to reduce cost and/or increase reliability of products.
  • Develop and implement a Manufacturing Quality framework, including:
  • Documentation management for incoming, inline, and final QC from manufacturers for all products.
  • Pallet and unit tracking to manage quality in design and manufacturing, state of charge, and other relevant details associated with shipments from manufacturers.
  • Drive tracking governance and action items to improve quality throughout the manufacturing and supply chain
  • Assess root causes of technical issues, and drive corrective action on products in development stage, and as needed on launched product.
  • As needed, be on site with manufacturers to close technical issues – International travel required.
  • Assist with design development testing during spike demand or downtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or related field plus 2 years of equivalent work experience, or 4 years of equivalent work experience using the skills as described.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing, shipping, and logistics of consumer-packaged goods (CPG), consumer electronics, and similar products.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment and tools, both for product validation/testing and for use in production processes.
  • Fundamentals of electronics, including an understanding of current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Fundamentals of manufacturing and materials processes for metals and plastics, in particular injection molding processes.
  • Proven ability to use problem solving and analytical skills to address design and manufacturing problems that cause quality issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in product quality.
