Island Heritage Trust is a community-based, non-profit land trust contributing to the well-being of the island community by conserving its distinctive landscape and natural resources, maintaining public access to valued trails, shoreline and islands, and by providing educational programming for all ages.

Position Overview

Island Heritage Trust (IHT) seeks a full-time Executive Director. IHT is a growing nonprofit land trust dedicated to conserving the natural and cultural heritage of Deer Isle and surrounding islands. A more detailed job description can be found here.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent management and people skills so as to create and maintain strong partnership relationships with members of the Board, the staff, and our many volunteers, as well as to serve as the public face of the Trust with local citizens, landowners, donors, other key constituencies, and the greater land trust community.
• Experience in program development, financial planning, management and fundraising are key components of the position as are excellent written and communication skills.
• Ideally, the successful candidate will have work experience in land conservation or a related field.
