Position Overview

Minnesota Department of Transportation is currently seeking a candidate to fill the position Hydrologist 3. This is a temporary unclassified assignment that will last one year up to three if necessary.

This position will provide advanced professional hydrogeologic expertise regarding soil and ground water contamination identification, determination of areal extent and magnitude, and treatment. This work enables projects to proceed without delays resulting from contamination, while ensuring worker health and safety, protection of the environment, full compliance with regulatory requirements, and minimization of future environmental liability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, geology, geological engineering, soil science or equivalent
  • Approximately three years of advanced, recent professional hydrogeology work experience managing contamination investigations and cleanups.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with Minnesota statutes, rules and guidelines and federal regulations dealing with soil and groundwater contamination.
  • Written communication skills sufficient to develop quality letters, reports, and work products.
  • Oral communications skills sufficient to deliver presentations and provide training.
  • Human Relations skills sufficient to effectively and diplomatically communicate and work cooperatively with individual and multi-diciplinary teams.
  • Current Minnesota Class D driver's license.

Reference/Background Checks:

Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check. It is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment. The background check may consist of the following components:
