Position Overview

This role will work closely with external Customers, Global Sustainability team and internal cross-business regional teams to develop and implement the Sustainability Strategy and vision across the North America region.

The Director, Sustainability will work to successfully incorporate Sustainability as part of our value proposition to our customers, determine the strategies to reach our 2020 Sustainability goals across the region and develop the tools to further demonstrate the environmental advantages of our share & reuse model

Scope

  • North America: Canada and the US
  • All Brambles Business Units: Brambles, CHEP Pallets, CHEP
  • Containers, CHEP Recycle, IFCO.
  • Number of Staff (direct): 1 (TBC)
  • Number of Staff (indirect):  10 – Sustainability resources within country, business functions and regions. Canada Safety, Quality and Sustainability Director

Responsibilities

The following accountabilities apply to the 3 Business Units across the region in scope:

  • Create and implement the Sustainability Strategy in North America, aligned with the Global Sustainability Strategy
  • Engage with BU and Regional leadership team ensuring Sustainability supports their business strategy
  • Develop and roll out  Sustainability GTM and Service Solutions as well as Global Sustainability Sales Tools
  • Promote Brambles share & reuse model in industry events, forums and customer interactions around sustainability
  • Lead and Coordinate North America Sustainability teams
  • Lead global customer strategic projects around sustainability
  • Coordinate global projects ensuring best practice sharing
  • Coordinate regional initiatives that lead to achieve Brambles Global 2020 Sustainability goals
  • Generate annual sustainability reporting to Brambles
  • Lead a small team of direct reports while engaging sustainability champions, as appropriate, within the individual business units and functional organizations

  • Adapt and sign off the North America Sustainability Strategy
  • Lead and organize the Regional Sustainability Teams
  • Develop, Define and Approve Sustainability Projects
  • Develop the creation and roll-out of Global Sustainability Sales Tools

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Business Operations, or related

Desirable:

  • MBA
  • Specific Studies in Sustainability
  • Sustainability or Environmental Certification(s)

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in an international role for a global Company
  • Active participation in leading Sustainability programs
  • Leading cross-functional teams
  • Interaction with key customers at an Executive level
  • Leadership role in managing complex projects
  • Frequent exposure to leadership teams
  • Proven track record of senior stakeholder management and influencing

Skills and Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of North America business environment, supply chain, market and customers.
  • Self-motivated, independent and results oriented
  • Ability to motivate and engage direct and indirect team members and stakeholders
  • Sustainability and Environmental impact analysis knowledge
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
