Position Overview

CALSTART has an immediate opening for a highly-motivated person to join our team as an Associate Project Manager. This is an exciting time for building the clean transportation technology industry and the opportunity to improve air quality, prevent climate change, and create jobs. The Associate Project Manager will help develop, support, and manage high impact clean transportation projects. The position will be based in the CALSTART solar powered headquarters in Pasadena, California.

Note: The full-time position is in the CALSTART Headquarters in Pasadena, California.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must have excellent written communication skills, and experience in research and program management. Successful candidates must have a positive “can do” attitude and think quickly on his or her feet.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will also have the necessary skills to play a direct and active role in supporting and ideally managing a variety of advanced transportation projects and should be able to perform the following tasks with strong competency:

  • Assisting and Managing projects;
  • Conducting secondary research;
  • Managing surveys and performing analysis;
  • Producing high quality reports;
  • Supporting and organizing meetings, webinars and workshops that engage stakeholders; and
  • Making presentations before small groups.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Experience:

  • The candidate must a high degree of proficiency in written and oral communications.
  • Candidates must have the capability of presenting to and working with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • The candidate must work well in a team environment, display personal initiative and be driven by a passion for the clean transportation industry.
  • It is essential that the candidate be well organized and have impressive project management capabilities.
  • The candidate should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, with a high degree of competence in Word, PowerPoint and be comfortable with the use of spreadsheets.
  • The candidate must also be able to demonstrate initiative, independently manage time, and multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • A strong attention to detail will be required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is a requirement for this position.

Highly Preferred Additional Skills and Experience that will be Viewed Favorably and Provide an Advantage:

  • Certificate or training in program management.
  • Track record in organizing events and forums.
  • Specific knowledge of and expertise with advanced transportation technologies and fuels.
  • Organizing and managing webinars. 

Compensation and Benefits

  • CALSTART offers a strong compensation package.
  • In addition to a competitive salary, CALSTART currently offers employees a company-paid HMO health plan including dental and vision care.
  • The compensation plan also includes a retirement plan equivalent to 8 percent of the annual salary. CALSTART allows for flexible work hours as appropriate, and provides funding for transit.
