~ The U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) is dedicated to the promotion of the active, outdoor lifestyle. ~

Since 2006, the USNWC has been promoting access to the outdoors for all levels of participants through its all-day pass programs, instruction, leadership school as well as festivals, races and other outdoor events. Whether you visit the Center’s 1,300 acres on the Catawba River or participate in the offsite programs featured throughout the United States, the USNWC wants you to play, relax and learn outside.

Position Overview

The Outdoor School Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to manage the administrative aspects of Outdoor School programs at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) – i.e. summer camp, environmental education, instruction, certification, etc. Outdoor School Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position and reports directly to the Outdoor School Director.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate knowledge of all programs offered through the Outdoor School and guide participants through various registration processes
  • Clearly communicate with program participants regarding payment options, required paperwork, and general program questions
  • Organize logistics and operational needs for Outdoor School programs
  • Accurately transcribe program data into the USNWC operating system – event orders, sales links, invoices, receipts, etc.
  • Assist in facilitating daily group check-in and check-out processes
  • Manage daily program tasks set forth by Outdoor School Director
  • Ensure quality supervision and safety for campers and counselors, and address medical concerns of program participants when necessary
  • Prepare various reports and analyze program data
  • Assist with marketing efforts for Outdoor School programs
  • Maintain occasional availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to assist other departments during special events and festivals

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with youth groups and facilitating programming – i.e. camps, schools, churches, etc.
  • Prior experience working at a summer camp is highly recommended
  • Possession of a 4-year Bachelor’s degree is highly recommended
  • Must be patient, organized, task -oriented, enthusiastic, outgoing, and flexible
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Suite products, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with Siriusware is highly valued
  • A current First Aid, CPR & AED Certification is required – courses are offered by the USNWC
