Business Unit Overview:  
 
BlackRock Infrastructure is a fast growing business unit within BlackRock’s Alternatives Business offering primarily institutional clients access to equity and debt infrastructure investments. BlackRock’s Alternatives Strategies Group is focused on sourcing and managing high alpha investments that are not correlated with traditional investment products. BlackRock Infrastructure was founded in 2011 and now has over $9 billion in investor commitments.  The group has over 100 global investment professionals with a broad experience base in developing, operating and financially structuring investments and has offices in New York, London, Stockholm, Dublin, Paris, Zurich, Bogota and Mexico City.
 
Position Overview
 
An opportunity arises to join the Portfolio Operations team within BlackRock Infrastructure, a team of 14 which primarily provides financial, operational and administrative support for the Renewable Power, Infrastructure Debt and Infrastructure Solutions, Global Energy & Power businesses within BlackRock.
 
This position will provide support to the Global Energy and Power team. The role will report to the Director, Portfolio Operations but will work independently to support the investment and operations teams as necessary. The role is Greenwich CT based.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Evaluating, in conjunction with professional advisors, and subsequently executing on the capital structures necessary to ensure tax efficient returns to Investors.
  • Provision of assistance to the transaction teams as appropriate, including the coordination of the operational elements of investment activities.
  • Forecasting and managing Investor capital calls and finance drawdowns in such a manner as to ensure funding is available for transactions as required.
  • Integration of newly acquired portfolio assets into BlackRock.  
  • Liaison with third party administration, operational and maintenance providers to ensure a proper balance between internal control and operational efficiency at operating project level and to ensure accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting of asset performance by each asset on a monthly basis.
  • Review and assessment, in conjunction with the Investment team, of monthly operational and financial reports. Identification and resolution of any financial or performance issues.
  • Effective communication of asset performance to Senior Management, Investors and the broader group.
  • Review and implementation of annual budgets for all portfolio assets.
  • Portfolio and project cash management and distributions.
  • Ensure full and timely compliance with regulatory, project and client reporting requirements.
  • Review and assess contracts pertaining to underlying projects.
  • Manage and oversee Valuation process for GEPI Assets with Valuation Advisors, Risk and Pricing.
  • Liaise with fund accounting team and auditors on accounting, fund valuation and reporting issues.
Qualifications
 
Knowledge / Experience:
 
  • Qualified Accountant, (ideally Big 4 background) with at least 3 years post qualification experience.
  • Third level degree.
  • Experience within a group finance or reporting role.
  • Experience in Power and energy, particularly in monitoring and reporting on operating assets is desirable.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including detailed knowledge and experience in IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Excellent Excel and financial analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial models and large volumes of contractual data.
  • Experience in liaising with external service providers an advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workload autonomously and effectively.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to apply commercial judgment.
  • Inquisitive, detail-oriented, self-motivated.
  • Willing to travel.
