Position Overview

Lake Superior State University’s School of Natural Resources and Environment invites applicants for a Term Assistant Professor of Fisheries Aquatic Ecology beginning August, 2018. Candidates will be considered for a one-year full-time term position. We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and broadly trained faculty to teach courses such as ichthyology, limnology, fisheries management, principles of watersheds, aquatic entomology and senior research. The School has a strong record of student-faculty research and the successful candidate will have the opportunity conduct research with undergraduates.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree or higher in Fisheries Science, Aquatic Ecology, or closely related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Fisheries Science, Aquatic Ecology or closely related discipline.
  • Qualifications to teach additional courses offered by the School of Natural Resources and Environment and successful undergraduate research and teaching experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to drive and accompany students on field trips into areas where boating, hiking may be needed to get to the desired field site.
  • Be able to accompany students on field labs, actively lead and participate in field activities in, on and off the water.
  • Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and operate a 4WD truck and motor boat.
