Position Overview

The Associate, Markets Transformation will support the development of Latin American emerging markets for all Rainforest Alliance services across all commodities and Rainforest Alliance solutions, and in particular sustainably produced agricultural commodities - with a strong focus on Brazil and Mexico.

S/he will support the Director, Markets Transformation, Latin America in building domestic and international demand for goods produced in Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms and ranches, including coffee, cocoa, oil palm, fruit, and beef.

S/he will identify prospects, map commodity supply chains, contribute to development and implementation of country market strategy, develop and manage company contact databases, perform outreach and follow-up with companies, producers, and other stakeholders, and develop targeted communications/marketing materials geared to specific audiences. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify and map producers and processors/manufacturers of key commodities produced in Brazil and Mexico, and other Latin American Countries;

  • Manage and grow relationships with designated Brazilian and Mexican companies;

  • In conjunction with the Director, Strategic Initiatives provide strategic and direction to grow the Brazilian, Mexico, and other Latin American market demand for certified coffee, beef and other agricultural products;

  • Develop targeted communications/marketing materials geared to specific audiences, including developing striking PowerPoint presentations and sell sheets;

  • Participate in special events, and other publicity opportunities;

  • Engage with the Communications unit in adapting social media campaigns such as “Follow the Frog”;

  • Support the Markets Transformation team with market data, communications and training tools;

  • Work in collaboration across departments to coordinate market demand with requisite supply building activities, traceability and use of seal;

  • Work with the Claims Traceability and Trademarks team in the implementation of traceability systems and participation agreement in royalty collection;

  • Support the launch of campaigns by companies in coordination with the global Markets Transformation and Communications teams;

  • Support the preparation of market-related fundraising proposals and the negotiation and development of service agreements with companies supporting the work of Rainforest Alliance; and

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in relevant field; preferably in Supply Chain Management, Sustainability or Marketing;

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in non-profit sector or relevant industry field preferred;

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and Internet);

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Strong organizational and time management skills;

  • Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills;

  • Experience in the coffee or beef industries is preferred;

  • Proactive and positive attitude;

  • Fluency in Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish languages required: and

  • Knowledge of and commitment to environmental issues and sustainability practices preferred.
