Description
~ The Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League is a chapter-based, nonprofit grassroots organization with a 31-year track record of successful strategic action campaigns. ~
League policies are created through collaboration between the talented, hardworking staff and the dedicated grassroots Board of Directors.
Position Overview
The League is seeking to hire a Development Director to work with the staff, board and chapters to expand memberships and major donors. The Development Director will report to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Creation and implementation of annual fundraising plans.
- Work with the Executive Director and project coordinators to seek and maintain foundation support, corporate contributions and major donations.
- Coordination of special fundraising events.
- Communication and liaison among staff, board members and chapter members.
- Outreach to all League chapters: membership renewal, chapter membership drives and chapter fundraising activities.
- Development of clear, effective written and oral presentations on the League's mission and campaigns.
Qualifications
- The principal qualification of the League's Development Director is the ability to develop and nurture personal relationships.
- The DD must be a self-starter.
- The DD should be visionary and creative.
- The DD must exhibit strong communication skills in both oral and written discourse.
- Computer skills are necessary.
- The League prefers experience in non-profit or fundraising work.
