Position Overview

Ceres is launching a new online strategy and website redesign project and is seeking a full time Senior Associate to join the online communications team. Ceres is seeking to hire a Senior Website Associate with experience curating and maintaining websites and other online content and channels.

The Senior Website Associate will join the communications team to help Ceres build and maintain its online brand across platforms, including the ceres.org website, various social media channels, blogs and online media distribution. This position will play a key role in the upcoming online strategy and website redesign project while updating and maintaining Ceres’s current online platforms.

This is a full-time position, based in our Boston office and will report to the Director of Online Communications.  

Responsibilities  

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Overall maintenance of Ceres suite of websites (ceres.org, incr.com and ceres.org/bicep and ceres.org/declaration) including developing and posting new content, news items, press releases, job announcements, as directed by the Online Communications Director
  • Ensure consistency of brand identity across all Ceres online properties (e.g. website, email, social media, blogs)
  • Online and website support for Ceres annual conference and other events, including creating new pages, updating speakers, sponsors and program information as well as online registration system.
  • Optimizing and updating Ceres website for major press announcements, report releases and other announcements
  • Work with online engagement team to ensure website is consistent with social media and email strategies
  • Optimize Google Analytics and provide regular website statistics reports to the online engagement and leadership teams.
  • Work with Director of Online Communications, to provide support to staff about using and updating the Ceres websites and social media, to enhance their program work.
  • Coordinate regular meetings with Ceres program teams to review and update web content
  • Support project management of upcoming website redesign and launch with Online Communications Director
  • Manage Ceres Google Adwords program to drive high quality traffic to the Ceres website
  • Manage all technical aspects of the Ceres website, including working with developers, database administrator, online engagement associate, etc to ensure forms, email subscriptions, membership lists and other dynamic content are up to date and working properly
  • Help develop and implement new web features as directed by Online Director and program staff (i.e. new tools, dynamic reports, etc.)
  • Develop creative content (photos, infographs, graphics) for website and distribution via social media and email
  • Manage external online news posts, including posting original Ceres content on Forbes, Huffington Post, National Geographic and 3BL
  • Represent Ceres at conferences and events as needed 

Qualifications 

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Bachelor degree, required 
  • 4 – 5 years of work experience, required
  • Experience using a content management systems, required (Plone, WordPress, Drupal, etc)
  • Prior experience managing, updating and maintaining websites, required
  • Working knowledge of HTML, required (knowledge of other programming including Java and Javascript is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of basic website design principles
  • Experience using social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn 
Additionally 
  • Demonstrated interested in environmental or sustainability issues, preferred
  • Prior office experience, preferred
  • Data entry experience and familiarity with database systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and word processing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to evaluate workload and prioritize projects
  • Experience managing calendars and scheduling for senior staff
  • Solid writing and research skills
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Able to work well independently and as a team member
  • Comfortable working with different personalities and people
  • Desire to work in a mission-driven / nonprofit environment
