Position Overview
AIPA Properties, LLC is offering an exciting and innovative Energy Efficiency Systems Analyst position.
With over 800,000 square feet of mixed-use (office and light industrial) commercial real estate in two buildings with ten levels of steel and concrete structure, we own and operate the largest buildings of our kind in the State and represent the most intensive use of our kind in the country. As such, AIPA presents a unique environment for modeling energy systems with dozens of different exposure and as-built conditions.
This position affords the right candidate the unique opportunity to evaluate AIPA's systems for energy savings as a comprehensive "whole" with a focus on cooling towers, ventilation, solar loads, and air conditioning.
The goal of the Energy Efficiency Systems Analyst will be to audit and evaluate existing systems, to suggest and evaluate alternative energy-saving systems and to provide advanced technical contributions to energy use evaluation efforts. The successful candidate will identify evaluation approaches and perform data collection and analysis.
The ideal candidate will be able to independently oversee whole-building energy analysis to support systems optimization, energy code compliance, and compliance with energy efficiency incentive programs for various building types.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Perform on-site inspections and high grade energy audits.
- Review architectural, mechanical drawings, and product specifications to examine existing energy use and future energy savings options.
- Lead field data collection in support of energy use analysis.
- Analyze energy performance and report the impacts associated with improvements.
- Impart knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and evaluation methods.
- Design, evaluate, and implement data spreadsheets or software to improve and streamline energy efficiency analyses.
- Reporting, presenting and defending the methodology and results of the evaluation through written reports and oral presentation.
- Calculate cost/benefits entailed by specific energy efficiency measures and prioritize them by payback and effectiveness.
- Effectively collaborating with our design, leasing, maintenance and ownership teams in support of energy efficiency goals.
- Maintain diligent personal organization, regular reporting with executive summaries, and consistently catalogue information in easily accessible formats.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems and theory, including knowledge of cooling tower operations, water source, heat pumps, and VRF systems.
- Understanding of issues relating to solar heat gain.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE Standards and EPA best practices and codes.
- Expertise in evaluation, measurement and verification (EM&V) of energy efficiency measures.
- Adept in multiple evaluation techniques and able to distill them into an applicable energy use model.
- Advanced data analysis and innovative problem solving skills.
- An organized, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and professional demeanor.
