University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business employs a collaborative team structure. The CSBP is one of four Centers of Excellence within the college. Other centers are the Finance & Securities Analysis Center, Lundquist Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and James H. Warsaw Sports Marketing Center. The four centers report to the Assistant Dean for Centers of Excellence.

The Lundquist College of Business is seeking a qualified candidate to lead, set strategy, manage experiential education and teach classes related to Sustainable Business.
We seek candidates with a passion for sustainable business in the corporate context and a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, staff as well as our alumni, industry partners and benefactors.
The Instructor/Program Manager position is responsible for the strategy and operational management of the Center for Sustainable Business Practices.
This position requires a deep passion for the business of sustainability in the corporate environment and a drive to enrich the lives of students seeking professional careers in this domain. Responsibilities
Teaching Duties (50%):
- Up to four (4) courses at either the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Courses may be related to business sustainability and/or business disciplines such as management, operations, or marketing.
- Includes arranging and supervising MGMT609 graduate course in strategic planning project (2 terms per year) and MGMT607 center seminar and speaker series (3 terms per year).
Program Duties (50%):
- Lead the ongoing strategic positioning of the Center, ensuring its brand and industry relevancy remains cutting-edge and highly regarded. Be professionally current with both the popular and academic literature on sustainable business practices.
- Administer the CSBP budget, schedule, communications, social media, student workers, and dedicated Center suite space.
- Curate industry/alumni connections to help students develop career pipeline opportunities.
- Mentor and counsel current MBA students enrolled in CSBP.
- Serve as Faculty Advisor for Net Impact Club (MBA and undergraduate chapters).
- Lead the development and management of global experiences for CSBP students.
- Plan and accompany students in experiential study tours to Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, our Engaging Asia summer study trip, national Net Impact conference, and other relevant conferences.
- Collaborate with MBA program office Recruiting Director as Center recruiting coordinator for prospective MBA students interested in the CSBP program; including meeting with students, speaking engagements, and some attendance/participation in recruiting events.
- Collaborate with CSBP related faculty in the development of leading research seminars and conferences affiliated with the college.
- Work with CSBP Academic Director and Undergraduate/MBA program offices to develop, evaluate, and enhance the CSBP undergraduate and MBA curriculum on an on-going basis. This includes potential course changes, creation of for-credit seminars, external partnerships, speakers, case competitions, conferences and/or events.
- Work with BII Executive Director in development of a robust Undergraduate and MBA alumni tracking and engagement program.
- Collaborate with the college's development office, BII Executive Director, and senior administration in the pursuit of benefactor donations to help support the operations of the Center.
Qualifications
Required:
- Prior academic experience and College level teaching required. For appointment at rank of senior instructor, six years of proven teaching experience is necessary.
- Practitioner: Private sector experience in sustainable business as a consultant, sustainability coordinator, business owner, or green business employee/manager. Sufficient breadth in content knowledge of most of the following areas, yet a depth and focus in at least one or two:
- Sustainability Accounting and Reporting / Metrics
- Sustainability Action Planning and Prioritization
- Sustainable Energy, Water, Waste, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Products, Packaging, Impact Investing, and/or Social Issues
- The conventional business arena: general management, innovation management, marketing, accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and/or decision sciences.
- Demonstrated experience and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Position is subject to criminal background check.
Desired/Preferred:
- Ph.D. in relevant field.
- Experience running client-based consulting projects.
- University curriculum development experience.
- Ability to teach at the MBA level in areas such as corporate innovation for sustainability, life cycle analysis, reverse-logistics, or design for environment.
- Experience advising students about the sustainable business field.
- A deep "rolodex" of sustainable business connections in the Pacific NW and globally.

Through its association with the State of Oregon and the University of Oregon, the CSBP has a natural brand position in the sustainable business universe. CSBP has strong roots in business operations and was founded as the Center for Sustainable Supply Chain Management. Affiliated faculty in Management, Decision Sciences, Finance, and Marketing are actively engaged in academic research in sustainable business practices.
CSBP has taken a major role in providing a connection for the LCB to a broader community-on campus, in the Pacific Northwest, and across the country. The CSBP is the home of UO Net Impact, which brings together MBA and undergraduate students with other campus stakeholders interested in sustainability and links them with a national network of more than 10,000 leaders.
The Center has achieved recognition by prominent ranking entities including being recently ranked #15 by Net Impact's Business as UNusual rankings of MBA/MS programs as well as Corporate Knights ranking of the Center as #2 Sustainable Business MBA in the US (#9 globally). Because of the pending retirement of our current Program Director, we are seeking an ambitious new leader who can continue to build upon our momentum.
The Business Innovation Institute is home to the four Centers of Excellence within the Lundquist College of Business.These four Centers consist of:
(1) The Center for Sustainable Business Practices (CSBP);
(2) The Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE);
(3) The Warsaw Sports Marketing Center (WSMC), and
(4) The Finance and Securities Analysis Center (FSAC).
The BII was created to capitalize on the realization that innovation is the driving force behind the advancement of leading edge business practices in all fields. Besides this core value, the four centers share the experiential approach to education. Each center brings complementary strengths and capabilities to the union.
The Lundquist College of Business is one of seven schools housing academic programs on the University of Oregon campus. The college works cooperatively with the other UO colleges and schools to prepare students for a broad range of career paths. There are approximately 50 full-time faculty members, 45 instructors and adjuncts, 35 administrative positions, 30 staff members, 1,200 undergraduate majors, 2,250 pre-business majors, 1,200 undergraduate minors, 170 master's students and 30 doctoral students.
Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 24,548. The Eugene metro area (pop. 351,715) is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment.
