Description

~ Gas Technology Institute (GTI) is the nation's leading research, development and training organization addressing energy and environmental challenges to enable a secure, abundant, and affordable energy future. ~

For more than 70 years, we have been providing economic value to the natural gas industry and energy markets by developing technology-based solutions for industry, government, and consumers.

Our research initiatives address issues impacting the natural gas and energy markets across the industry's value chain-supply, delivery, and end use. We offer an integrated systems perspective to expand the supply of affordable energy, ensure a safe and reliable energy delivery infrastructure, and promote the efficient use of energy resources.

Position Overview

GIT has an opportunity for an Emerging Technology Program (ETP) implementation professional in our End Use Solutions Group.

The qualified candidate will be leading a small team responsible for screening emerging technologies, then demonstrating the most promising energy efficient products and services in pilot projects, and finally successfully transitioning the findings into incentive measures for natural gas and electric utility clientele.

This position is located in the Chicago metropolitan area. While local candidates are preferred, GTI provides relocation assistance for the right candidate. You must have legal authorization to work for GTI on your date of hire with no further action required by GTI.

Responsibilities

The selected ETP manager will be required to:

  • Provide detail oriented program management and individual oversight of projects executed by other team members.
  • Display ownership of and bring resolution to both program, and as necessary, individual project level issues.
  • Be a “quick study” with new technologies and then exhibit a technical understanding, grasp of the economics, and applicable market awareness for emerging technologies using strong written and presentation skills.
  • Lead GTI staff and participating manufacturers, contractors, and end users in the execution of pilot projects in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Multitask in/out of the office to satisfy ETP team member and clientele needs.

Note: This work will require ongoing and decisive coordination with natural gas and electric utility staff to understand their Energy Efficiency Program (EEP) structures and needs, including the process for identifying new technologies of interest, their validation under third party evaluation, measurement, and validation (EM&V), and incorporation into utility rebate programs through work paper developments, Technical Reference Manuals (TRM) input , along with associated regulatory issues.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Relevant ETP/EEP experience working for a utility implementation or EM&V contractor is a requirement.
  • We expect a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience and a minimum bachelor-level degree in business with a demonstrated technical acumen during their career to date.

Additional knowledge/skills needed for success include:

  • Working knowledge of natural gas and electric end use technologies used in homes, businesses, and industry.
  • Familiarity with data analysis capabilities (samples of candidate’s past data analysis will be provided to GTI upon request).
  • Ability to take initiative and reach out to various industry contacts to assist with the development of high-quality deliverables (samples of candidate’s past deliverables, preferably to utility ETP/EEP clientele, will be provided to GTI upon request).

Note: Your past professional experience in these areas is highly valued, but so are your personal abilities and willingness to learn. All candidates with the appropriate skill sets will be considered.

Compensation: Gas Technology Institute offers generous benefits, competitive salaries, and the opportunity to work in a professional R&D environment.
