Position Overview
Skelly and Loy is seeking to fill several mid- to senior-level water resources engineer positions in our Hunt Valley, Maryland office.
The ideal candidate is a technical specialist in ecosystem restoration, low impact development (LID), environmental site design (ESD) and stormwater management, with strong client relationships, preferably in the Mid-Atlantic region (Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC region).
An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland (or ability to obtain within 6 months) is required. PE licenses in Virginia, Washington DC and/or Delaware is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Serve as project manager and lead multi-discipline teams on water resources projects
- Responsible for technical aspects on water resources projects, financial tracking and schedules
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to project-level staff for technical activities including conceptual designs, construction documents, specifications/cost estimates, construction bid support and construction inspection using sound ecological principles
- Service/participation on technical committees, organizations and/or academic institutions
- Leading and supporting business development activities to expand the firm's water resources business
- Oversee quality of engineering and related professional services
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in civil/water resources/environmental engineering or biological systems engineering or a closely related field
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience in a water resources or environmental engineering practice area with a minimum of 5 year in a management/supervisory position
Required Skills:
- Broad experience and knowledge in watershed assessments, ecological restoration, geomorphology, stream assessment and restoration design, stream engineering and modeling, and water quality modeling and monitoring
- Technical experience and working knowledge should include: stream restoration/fluvial geomorphology (Rosgen Stream Training - Levels 1-4 or similar, Sediment Transport); H&H modeling and analysis using TR-55, TR-20, GISHydro, HEC-RAS, HEC-20 (stream stability along highways) and HEC-23 (stream simulation methods) methodologies; and EPA Chesapeake Bay TMDL/NPDES requirements
- Project management and client relations skills
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills:
- H&H modeling and analysis using XPSWMM, WinSLAMM, HY-8, and HEC-18 (Bridge Scour)
- Water recycling/reuse experience and green roof design
- Permitting experience in Maryland, Virginia and/or Delaware
- Established client relationships in the public and private sectors within the Mid-Atlantic region
