Position Overview 

Within CCI Greenheart, the Work and Travel (WT) Department has J-1 designation by the U.S. Department of State to bring international university students to the United States on a cultural exchange program that allows them to work for a period of 8 weeks to 4 months.

CCI Greenheart's WT program is dedicated to extending the mission of cultural understanding, environmental consciousness and world peace by connecting enthusiastic international students and American Host Organizations. As the only non-profit green J-1 visa sponsor, we pride ourselves on providing a quality experience, while encouraging and enabling CCI GH staff, participants and Host Organizations to work together on projects that promote environmentalism and sustainability.

The Work and Travel Department is looking to hire temporary support staff that can assist its Operations and Services divisions in preparation for the busy summer season. This positon begins in January, with a duration of 3-8 months in duration. First 3 months are provisional and extensions are based on performance and program workload. 

Responsibilities 

  • The Operations Assistant is responsible for performing application review, job offer entry, U.S. host employer vetting, DS-2019 processing, evaluating participant arrival information and assisting with phones.
  • The verification of U.S. Employers and serving as in-country support to our participants requires excellent verbal and written communication.
  • The position also involves a great deal of teamwork, multi-tasking, ability to shift gears and handle a fast-paced environment.
  • The Services division of the WT department is responsible for the placement, monitoring and in-country support for all direct placement program participants. Services coordinators and assistants aid our stakeholders: partners, participants and US employers, in ensuring a smooth, meaningful program experience.
  • Partner relations staff contract, train, and work with our network of international sending partners to assist in the participant recruitment process, relay available WT positions, and coordinate hiring events (international Job Fairs and Greenheart World's Fairs virtual events). 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Creative and outside-of-the-box thinking, self-directed and flexible
  • Ability to shift gears at a moment's notice, willingness to change priorities in an effort to help the team
  • Exceptional ability to multitask, pay attention to detail and to work in an exhilarating and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact within groups of all ages, nationalities, ethnicities and backgrounds
  • Dedication to cultural exchange, travel and passion for learning about other cultures
  • Outgoing, flexible personality with a willingness to learn; applicant should be a proactive, diligent, positive & creative self-starter; possess great work ethic and excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine desire to contribute to an organization that promotes cultural exchange and environmental consciousness
  • Willingness to work on application review or job offer entry for an entire day, or for consecutive days in a row 

Compensation: $12 per hour.
