Position Overview
HDR is seeking candidates for the position of "Environmental Geologist." Experience in environmental, water resources (surface water and groundwater), hydrology, water quality, or other closely related field is preferred. This position is located in Charlotte, North Caroline.
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design and conduct groundwater field studies (including ash basin and ash landfill groundwater monitoring programs)
- Prepare various reports for landfill groundwater issues associated with coal combustion products such as landfill groundwater monitoring reports and groundwater assessments
- Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments for industrial sites
- Develop remediation strategies and conduct field studies for contaminated soil and groundwater at industrial sites
- Prepare environmental permitting documents associated with groundwater projects
- Conduct sediment and erosion control projects
- Develop Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for construction sites
- Develop and modify drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Qualifications
Qualifications of the preferred candidate:
- B.S. in Geology or Environmental Sciences with Minor in Geology
- 2+ years of experience in environmental, water resources (surface water and groundwater), hydrology, water quality, or other closely related field
- Experience with ash landfills and ash basins
- Professional Geologist certification; or ability to obtain
- Experience in planning and conducting environmental data collection programs (e.g., groundwater quality, stormwater monitoring), surveying techniques, and data compilation and assimilation
- Ability to work with project teams, private clients, and governmental agencies
- Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Strong written, computer, and oral communications skills are required
- Ability to travel periodically, especially in the southeastern U.S.
