Position Overview

URS is a leading national engineering consulting firm with a major regional office in Morrisville (Raleigh), NC. We are currently seeking a Chemist to assist with commercial and federal projects involving site investigation and remediation of soils and groundwater.

The successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day issues concerning coordination of analytical work, data review/validation, and problem resolution. This position does not involve laboratory work, but may involve some field work. 

Responsibilities 

  • Determine appropriate analytical methods as part of the project planning process
  • Coordinate and track analytical work with commercial laboratories
  • Review laboratory data packages for completeness, 
  • Conduct data validation
  • Resolve analytical issues
  • Assist in the development of project Work Plans and Quality Assurance Project Plans
  • Interact with project managers, field staff, and laboratory personnel when coordinating analytical work for a given sampling event

Qualifications  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or other related discipline
  • Possess good communication and writing skills, and a desire to contribute to a dynamic team
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel)
  • Ability to write and convey thoughts, and organize data in an efficient and clear manner
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Collaborates well in a team environment
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
