Position Overview
Bright Green Strategies is seeking qualified energy analyst candidate to support residential and small commercial energy efficiency, new construction and retrofit programs. Candidates must possess knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability.
The energy analyst will work collaboratively with clients and sustainability team members to promote energy efficiency. They will analyze architectural plans and advise on the means to comply with or exceed California Energy Code (Title-24).
Responsibilities
- Engage in a collaborative process with development teams comprised of building developers, client, architects, engineers, and/or general contractors to communicate:
- Energy-efficient design models.
- Required compliance documentation.
- Technical concepts relating to the Energy Code, building science, energy efficiency, rebate programs, and energy policy.
- Create energy performance models primarily using EnergyPro software to demonstrate compliance, and produce documentation for Title-24 Energy Compliance, Energy Audit reports, Utility rebate programs, and/or federal tax credits, for both residential and non-residential; new construction, additions/alterations, or tenant improvements projects.
- Document load calculations using ASHRAE standards for new construction projects. Load calculations may be used to size mechanical heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
- Attend ongoing training workshops to stay current in the latest trends in energy efficiency.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and standards.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, construction management or other sustainability focused program with a demonstrated interest in building science preferred.
- Certified Energy Plans Examiner (CEPE or CEA) a plus.
- Knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency technologies, green building and high performance design.
- Knowledge of LEED, HERS and/or GreenPoint Rated programs a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of Incentive Programs for non-residential and residential energy efficiency, and, State and Federal tax credits.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent computer skills in EnergyPro, CAD (Auto Cad & Revit) MS Word, Excel.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities within a team-oriented office environment.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain attention to detail and exercise good independent judgment.
Additional Qualifications Desired:
- Home Energy Rating Systems (HERS and HERS II) Rater certification.
- Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification.
- Experience using energy modeling software.
Compensation: Projected salary range is competitive; commensurate with experience.
