Energy Analyst

affordable and healthy housing and communities. ~

Position Overview

AEA West is seeking an Energy Analyst to join our tight-knit, talented
team of “Energy Geeks”. The candidate
must be hungry to learn, but ready to contribute. We are specifically looking for candidates
with at least 2 years of in-depth experience and familiarity with Title-24. 

The candidate should also be familiar with
the recent 2013 code changes as well as the compliance software (CBECC-Com,
CBECC-Res, and EnergyPro). The Energy
Analyst will lead AEA’s efforts on Title-24 compliance documentation and will serve
as an office-wide resource and subject matter expert for T-24 related issues
and projects. 

The Energy Analyst
will also assist Senior Analysts in conducting energy audits of multifamily and
commercial buildings, providing energy analysis at both the project and program
levels, designing and managing retrofit projects, performing green building
assessments, and conducting a variety of technology and market assessments. 

The Energy Analyst engages in data collection, building diagnostics, research,
data analysis, energy modeling and report production as needed to complete a range
of project types.  He or she is expected
to be a self-starter, an independent problem solver, and a strong team-player.

Responsibilities 

The Energy Analyst may be responsible for:

• Performing Title-24 energy modeling
  and preparing compliance documentation

• Performing trainings on Title-24
  related topics

• Conducting energy audits and in-field
  energy assessments, on-site diagnostics, field data collection

• Preparing energy and green building assessment
  reports based on analytic findings which include detailed equipment specifications
  and cost savings analysis

• Energy efficiency program
  implementation

• Conducting technical peer review

• Performing LEED, Green Point Rated and
  HERS consulting services

• Performing commissioning and retro-commissioning 

Note: These job
responsibilities may be revised over time to ensure the functional
responsiveness of the Energy Analyst to AEA and Federal and California State
program requirements. 

Qualifications  

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of building systems including lighting technologies, building envelope, and mechanical systems

• In-depth knowledge and understanding
  of Title 24 and other building codes

• Experience with the use of energy
  modeling software i.e., EnergyPro, eQUEST, DOE2 programs, CBECC-Com and Res.

• Documented experience performing Title
  24 Energy Modeling for compliance purposes

• Proficiency in Microsoft software,
  including Excel but also Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint   

Additional Qualifications Desired: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering,
  architecture, environmental science, construction management or other
  sustainability related focus, with a demonstrated interest in energy
  conservation and building science preferred

• CEPE and/or CEA certifications

• Familiarity with local, state and
  federal incentive and rebate programs

• Ability to perform cost savings
  analyses and fuel data analyses

• Sound technical writing skills and
  experience

• Home Energy Rating Systems (HERS and
  HERS II) rater certification preferred

• Building Performance Institute (BPI)
  certification preferred
