Position Overview
This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the evaluation of potential investment opportunities; the monitoring of completed investments; and project development and research efforts within the alternative energy industry. In general; analyzing specific companies and related investment proposals; preparing research reports; and, participating in the due diligence and investment process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in performing research with respect to a variety of investments; conducts initial review and screening of a wide variety of investment proposals.
- Responsible for telephone contact and written correspondence with potential investment candidates; and others to evaluate new investment proposals.
- Conducts financial analysis with respect to accounting and financial data relating to specific investment opportunities; responsible for the development, utilization and maintenance of financial models created for the evaluation of investment proposals and tracking/monitoring of existing investments.
- Maintains databases of relevant financial reporting data from direct private equity investments.
- Writes detailed and professional industry research and status reports.
- Prepares and presents reports, compiling financial information and key performance indicators; works with staff to compile, analyze, and summarize data; makes presentations and recommendations as required.
- Composes professional correspondence; completes sophisticated written investment reports and presentation materials.
- Participates in, and contributes to, discussions regarding long-term investment strategy, asset allocation, risk tolerance and financing strategies.
- Responsible for performing, or assisting with, due diligence activities, and working with senior staff members and legal counsel in reviewing documents and amendments.
- Provides assistance to the complete Alternative Energy team in matters relating to research, investment analysis and related tasks. Including financial and operational analysis.
- Assists in maintaining the company's research and investment files.
- Assists with monitoring and tracking various investment budgets, budget amendments, and actual versus budget performance during the fiscal year; reports to the Alternative Energy management on budget status; assists in preparing requests for budget reallocations and amendments.
- Assists in preparing packages for presentation to the Growth Fund Management Committee and to Tribal Council by writing memos and gathering appropriate technical materials.
- Attends staff meetings and other meetings and trainings as required or requested.
- Understands and follows Growth Fund and Alternative Energy policies and procedures.
- Performs other job related duties as required or requested.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or Math is required.
- Must have one year experience in investment research obtained from employment in the fields of investment management, merchant banking, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity investing or comparable business or profession.
- Must have well-developed skills in the areas of financial and statistical analysis, accounting and financial statement analysis.
- Must have command of economic metrics such as IRR, NPV and Payback.
- Must have the ability to make presentations to others utilizing compelling evidence and in an effective and persuasive style.
- Must have a command of the "vocabulary of investment," supported by a solid understanding of various investment principles, terms and quantitative measures.
- Must have advanced Windows-based computer skills including database use, word processing, Powerpoint, and spreadsheet programs - with a particular emphasis on advanced Excel skills.
- Must be highly dependable, organized, and a logical thinker, with the ability to prioritize and remain focused on agreed-upon goals.
- Must work effectively and positively on their own and in a team environment.
- Must be willing to assist others, learn new skills, and participate in a productive team oriented environment.
- Must pass criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test.
- Must have valid driver's license for state of residency and be insurable by the Growth Fund vehicle insurance carrier.
