Trico was formed in 1945 by farmers in Avra Valley seeking to bring electric power to their rural area.

Position Overview

The position of Renewable Resources/Energy Efficiency Specialist reports to the Director, Key Accounts & Sustainable Energy Programs and works with personnel of other departments as directed, as well as the general public and Trico Members.

This position is specifically responsible for administering the Trico renewable and energy efficiency programs; updating and monitoring the program databases and reservation waiting lists; and coordinating with other Trico departments to transfer and document renewable resource and energy efficiency information.

This position is also responsible for assisting with the formation of new programs. The Cooperative supports a positive work environment that emphasizes the Cooperative's current mission statement and core values.

Responsibilities

The Renewable Resources/Energy Efficiency Specialist is responsible for the following functions, including but not limited to: 

  • Administers the Trico Renewable Resource and Energy Efficiency Programs.
  • Operates the renewable resource and energy efficiency program desk, which includes answering phone and email questions from members and contractors regarding the renewable resource programs and cogeneration tariffs, as well as, interconnection requirements for generation facilities.
  • Confers with members, developers, industrial customers and commercial accounts on program issues.
  • Receives and evaluates applications for Trico renewable resource and energy efficiency programs.
  • Follows-up with members regarding application deficiencies.
  • Processes all application requirements including letters and or notifications to members at various stages of the project.
  • Coordinates the final inspection and in-service of the renewable projects.
  • Maintains familiarity with Trico renewable resource, energy efficiency, and demand side management programs, Trico Interconnection Requirements and current tariffs.
  • Responsible to plan, coordinate and implement renewable resource, energy efficiency and demand side management programs and the associated reports necessary for regulatory compliance and internal tracking.
  • Creates, updates and monitors the renewable resource and applicable energy efficiency and demand side management program database(s) and applicable reservation waiting list.
  • Analyzes data and prepares reports and or updates of the program status.
  • Updates information and troubleshoots issues.
  • Assists with data compilation, reduction and transfer to the various web sites to meet Trico regulatory requirements.
  • Makes recommendations regarding process improvements to ensure project/process effectiveness.
  • Coordinates with other Cooperative departments to transfer and document information, which include but are not limited to Member Services, Information Technology, Finance/Administration, Technical Services and Marketing.
  • Assists the Director, Renewable Resources and Demand Side Management with development of new and administration of existing renewable resource and demand side management programs as they may change and/or expand over time.
  • Maintains familiarity with Cooperative renewable resource, energy efficiency, and demand side management programs.Maintains familiarity with RUS bulletins and regulations, Arizona Corporation Commission regulations and Cooperative policies, terms and conditions of service rates and other rules, regulations and approved practices, as necessary.
  • Coordination of the Cooperatives renewable, energy efficiency, and marketing meetings and events, as requested.
  • Attends training sessions, section meetings, conferences and schools as requested by the Director, Renewable Resources and Demand Side Management.
  • Attends and represents the Cooperative at other utilities, service organizations, various media, public, or governmental committees or agencies as assigned.
  • Assists in the preparation, implementation and administration of the departmental budget and work plan.Maximizes good member relations to mitigate, track, and solve customer problems and complains in a positive manner. 

Qualifications

The position of Renewable Resources/Energy Efficiency Specialist must have the following minimum requirements: 

  • Four year college degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Experienced in renewable energy generation technologies, energy management, the utility regulatory environment, account management, and technical engineering related duties is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience can be substituted for requirements listed above.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications with all levels of cooperative personnel and external contacts for positive image and to achieve goals and meet objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Additional knowledge in advanced computer software preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate being creative, self-motivated, dynamic, detail-oriented and well organized for working independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Must be willing to take responsibility and accountability for the development and implementation of projects, as assigned, with the goal of meeting all work deadlines.
  • Must be able and available to work irregular and/or overtime hours as duties may require.Must be able to travel, as required, for business meetings and functions related to the scope of work of this position. 

Physical Requirements and Working Environment: 

  • The work is performed both in an air-conditioned, smoke-free office environment and outside.
  • The job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, and to meet with key accounts either in or out of headquarter offices.
  • The job involves 10% crawling, climbing ladders, or lifting in awkward positions; 30% bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder level; wearing protective equipment; 50% sitting, standing, walking.
  • Frequently this position requires lifting up to 24 pounds; occasionally up to 35 pounds.
  • The position frequently requires carrying up to 24 pounds; occasionally up to 35 pounds.
  • Occasionally this position requires pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • The position requires extensive fine finger dexterity, including simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive movements, including typing, with both hands.
